Dr. Shane McCarthy

Dr. Shane is providing medical care onsite to the Apple employees since 2008. He graduated with a medical degree from University College Cork in 2000. He went on to complete his training in general practice through the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin and returned to Cork in 2006. He was a GP partner and occupational health physician in Ballincollig for 10 years until he moved to be Medical Director to Apple’s Wellness Centre in early 2016 as well as one of it’s full time resident GPs.

Shane is especially interested in preventative healthcare, travel health, health promotion and minor surgery. He is also medical director to the Community Intervention Team and former chairperson of Southdoc. He continues to sit on the Board of Southdoc and in his spare time he is a keen runner and plays tennis in Sundays Well on the Mardyke.
